On June 11, 2009 the Raleigh Historic Districts Commission (RHDC) released the report Common Beauty: History of the Physical Form and Uses of Moore Square. Focused solely on the Square itself and the portions of blocks that face the Square, the report relates the history of Moore Square's physical form and past uses. The 18-page report is a full-color document comprised of historic maps and interesting glimpses into Moore Square's storied past.
The report was intended to inform the Moore Square Design Competition , an initiative undertaken by a project team organized and led by the Raleigh departments of City Planning and Parks and Recreation.
