In honor of its 50th birthday, RHDC posed the question: "What is your favorite OLD building in Raleigh?" In cooperation with Arts Together and Marbles Kids Museum, RHDC hosted an arts contest inviting Raleigh's youth to answer that question. Winners were be announced at RHDC's 50th Birthday Bash during first Friday, November 2nd. Winning art may be viewed here .
Create Art at Open Studios: Arts Together
Thanks to all the artistis who participated in the Open Studios! We look forward to seeing your masterpieces entered into the This Place Matters! Art Contest.
Earlier this fall high schoolers through preschoolers (3-5) were invited to create art during two Open Studios at Arts Together. Some participants brought a picture of their chosen building for inspiration and some explored Raleigh's 150 Historic Landmarks .

Artists plus one adult enjoyed free entrance to Marbles Kids Museum exhibits. People's choice and juried judging ocurred in Curiosity Square from 12 to 2 on October 27.

50th Birthday Bash: Marbles Kids Museum
During First Friday RHDC and the community celebrated the art contest winners and RHDC's 50th anniversary. Everyone enjoyed art, music by Gary Mitchell, a performance by the Rainbow Dance Company, great food, raffle prizes, and more.
