Determine if Your Property is Located in a Local Historic District

Wake County and the City of Raleigh's Online Mapping Service iMAPS is a quick way to determine if your property is located in a local historic district:

For the old iMAPS:

  1. In the left margin select "Address."
  2. Enter your address in the space provided in the right margin. Select "Search."
  3. When you are able to view your property, scroll down to "Select a View" and select "Raleigh Zoning."
  4. In the right hand margin select "Historic Overlay District (HOD)." If your property is in a local historic district, hatching will appear.

For the new iMAPS:

  1. In the right margin select Search by "Address."
  2. Enter your street number in the space provided.
  3. Begin typing your street name in the space provided. It should display possibibilities up as you type. Click on the correct address - the search should automatically begin. If not press "enter" or click the magnifying glass to search.
  4. When you are able to view your property, click on "Show Additional Layers on Map" at the bottom of the right panel.
  5. Scroll down to "Overlay Districts" under "Planning." Select "Historic Overlay District." Properties within the district will now be covered in a blue hatched layer.
